Dominican Republic

On December 8th we left the snow behind to go on vacation to the Dominican Republic for a week. It ended up being the perfect week to leave because the day we left it snowed like crazy and kept coming down all week long. When we called home we were told that it was less than 10 degrees one day! Our trip started out with a little bit of chaos. We got to the airport and sat on the airplane for about an hour at the gate because they closed the O'Hare Airport in Chicago where we were flying into was shutdown. We were able to get off and get on a different flight to go to Dallas but our bags would have to stay on the original flight plan. We thought that would be okay and that they would just meet up with us in Miami. Well once we got to Dallas we missed our next flight but luckily there was another flight we were able to get on within the hour.

Once we got to Dominican Republic we went to the baggage claim area and no bags. We talked with the airline and they said they would be there the next day. The next day came and finally around 5pm we received 3 of are bags but Ryan's was still missing and he ended up not getting it till our 3rd day there. He almost hugged the bellman that brought his bag to the room when it finally showed up. After that our vacation was wonderful.

The resort that we stayed at was gigantic! It was a 15 minute walk from our hotel room to the lobby but they had this train that took you around the whole resort.

Amira loved the sand. Ryan made her a little sand Bumbo and she was a happy camper. She kept grabbing sand in her hand and I kept waiting for her to put it in her mouth. She finally did but didn't seem to mind the taste. Sand is not easy to get out of a 6 month old's mouth either.

The ocean was gorgeous. The water was so warm and extremely blue. Amira hated the ocean though, we stuck her feet in the water and she screamed instantly. I'm not sure if it was the waves or the noise that scared her.

Because the ocean didn't go so well we spend most of our time at the pool. Amira loves the pool, she is quite the little water bug. There was a little place that only had a few inches of water which was great for her to play in. She figured out how to splash and she had a blast, even when she got water in her eyes she didn't complain.

Here's some other just random pictures of our trip. We had such a great time and it was very relaxing. We were glad to come home though but not to all of the snow!
