Relaxation, Dodgers, and Evacuation?

A couple of weeks ago Ryan was looking on the Internet and found airline tickets on Jet Blue to San Diego for $39 each way. To make it an even sweeter deal, I had a $25 credit! With Ryan working for the government he had last Friday as his regular day off and then was off on Columbus Day, so we figured why not go. Luckily Ryan has an uncle (Sam) who lives near San Diego in a city called Fallbrook. As a side note his house is just up the road from Tori Spelling's (Donna from Beverly Hills 90210) B&B that she used to own.

Sam's location and land are amazing, it is so relaxing to go to his house so he tends to get a lot of visitors. :-) His house overlooks the city of Oceanside, he has a huge grove full of avocado and lime trees as well. Below is a picture of his bird aviary that he built over the last year.

There are a ton of cool birds in there including pheasants, doves, pigeons, quails, and ducks.
One of these little guys took their first flight while we were in the aviary. He flew right past my face and scared me to death.
This is Sam's other bird. Her name is Debbie she lives in the house and will climb out of her cage, down a ladder, then walk over to you so she can be petted. It is seriously one of the craziest things to see her walk.
This is Ryan in front of the LA skyline. LA is about 100 miles from Fallbrook. This was the first time we really went down and walked around the city. I wasn't too impressed it seemed really dirty, but maybe we just went to the bad party of the city.
On Monday we didn't really have anything planned for the day and we knew that the LA Dodgers were playing so just out of curiosity we checked to see if there were any tickets available. We were surprised to see they still had some left and even though we sat top deck they turned out to be pretty good seats. Even though our Yankees are out we are still rooting for anyone that will beat the Red Sox.

Since the Dodger acquired Manny Ramirez they have been selling Manny wigs. There were so many cute little kids wearing them that I had to take a picture. This little guy and even his brother were rockin' the wigs.
As we were at the game Ryan's uncle got a hold of us around 8:30pm and told us the hill was on fire next to his house. The hill is about 1/4 a mile away from his house, he said there was a fire truck parked in his driveway and they had evacuated the whole area. We finally got back to Fallbrook around midnight and police officers had both sides of the hills blocked off and wouldn't let us go up. After about an hour and a half of waiting around and talking to the police one guy finally let us walk up the hill. The firefighters said that the house was out of danger but it was still scary to go to sleep being able to see the fire from our bedroom window.
This is the same hill the next day. Thank goodness all of the homes in the area were unharmed.

As another side note, the video below is of some crazy guy that sat two rows in front of us at the game.

We are jealous. I'm glad the fire wasn't worse...but scary anyways. They can be so bad there.
