ATL

This last weekend we decided to take a trip to Atlanta which is only 160 miles away from Maxwell AFB.

Atlanta on a rainy Saturday

We had to flip flop our plans because of the rain so we decided to go to the Georgia Aquarium which is the World's Largest Aquarium. It was so crowded and they would only let so many people in at one time. It took more time waiting in line than it did to go through the whole aquarium.

The glass was so clear throughout the aquarium that it looked like it wasn't even there. I don't know what kind of fish these are but there was a lot of them.

They had 4 beluga whales and they were so cute. They all weight over 1200 lbs.
This is a shark whale and they share their space with all kinds of other fishes which they don't eat. Shark whales esophagus can only manage to swallow shrimp size food. The guide at the aquarium said shark whales can get as long as a yellow school bus!
After the Aquarium we went to an Atlanta Braves game. Even though we are Yankees fans, we still love to go to new ballparks. We ate at the restaurant in the outfield that you always see on TV so that was pretty cool.
Us at Turner Field.
On Sunday before we headed back to Maxwell we went to Six Flags Over Georgia. We didn't get to spend too much time there because Ryan had to report back and go to a study group. The picture below is of a pretty mild roller coaster called the Georgia Scorcher. It was pretty crowded for a Sunday so we were only able to ride 3 roller coasters in 3 1/2 hours.
I was really glad that Ryan was able to take a break from his intense classwork and relax.
